Google Fiber Coming to Austin

The Texas capitol is getting a huge boost in embracing the technology of the future!

src=http://cn.hcents.com/sites/default/files/blogs/google_fiber_austin_announce.jpgGoogle announced last week that Google Fiber, the company’s gigabit Internet service and digital cable package, is coming to Austin in 2014. Google Fiber provides customers with broadband Internet speeds of one gigabit per second, roughly 100 times faster than the average U.S. connection!

Connected Texas Executive Director, Don Shirley, attended the official announcement. “Connected Texas congratulates the Austin community and its leaders for aggressively pursuing world-class broadband, which directly led to their selection as the next community for Google Fiber,” said Shirley. “Connected Texas looks forward to helping every community in the state leverage Austin’s example and secure better broadband for their residents, businesses and community institutions.”
