Connected Nation is excited to launch Teens Teach Tech, powered by AT&T, a new digital literacy and learning program, led by teens that help build skills and confidence to newly connected adults for today’s digital world.

Connected Nation needs your help!
We are seeking mentors to lead and guide groups of teenagers as part of the Teens Teach Tech initiative.
Teachers, community leaders, guidance counselors, and parent volunteers passionate about supporting teens as they engage in community service focused on improving the digital skills of neighbors in need are welcome.

What is Teens Teach Tech?

Teens Teach Tech, powered by AT&T, harnesses teens’ technology expertise to help their family and other community members gain new computer/internet skills. This great opportunity allows teens to provide community service while learning real-world problem solving, collaboration, and project development.
Students can train on one of the six topics below.
All courses are developed by AT&T in collaboration with Public Library Association.

Computer Basics

Cybersecurity

Email Basics

Mobile Device Basics

VIDEO CONFERENCING


TRAINING

Training will take place right in your community. Groups will select the courses, location, dates, and times that work best for them.
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis from September 2022 thru February 2023. Student teams must participate in a train-the-trainer webinar within the same month they submit. Mentors must be present during webinars. Options will be provided for individual teams.
Students may begin their projects any time during the 2023 calendar year. All projects must be completed and final reports submitted by the end of Dec 2023.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Program activities will take place in your community.
  • Mentors and teens will select the local target audience, course(s), location(s), date(s), and time(s) that work best for the group.
  • Group registration will be accepted on a rolling basis from October through February 2023.
  • Project development can begin any time during the 2023 calendar year and the ‘teen teaching’ activities should be completed by the end of 2023.
  • Connected Nation staff is available to support the mentors.

Start Up Funds Available!

Using the registration form, groups can apply for up to $500 for startup funding. Examples of acceptable funding support needs include: devices/equipment for demos, venue costs, software licenses, etc. Subject to approval.
