Save the date on March 22 for a broadband kickoff event in Foard County
Foard County, Texas (March 15, 2022) – The Foard County Broadband Committee is inviting local stakeholders, community residents, and media to attend a special kickoff event on Tuesday, March 22, at 6 p.m. to discuss expanding and improving broadband access, adoption, and use throughout the community. Attendees will learn more about broadband access in Foard County, as well as the Connected Program at Connected Nation Texas (CN Texas), in addition to the project timeline. The meeting will conclude with a Q&A session.
The event will be held at:
Crowell Activity Center
110 Main Street
Crowell, TX 79227
For those who cannot attend the kickoff meeting, Foard County is asking residents and organizations to take 10 minutes to fill out a short survey.

Respondents are asked to simply select the survey category or categories that represent them or their organization, as many as apply. Unique surveys exist for households, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, public safety organizations, agriculture producers, government entities, libraries, and community organizations. The Broadband Committee’s goal is to receive at least 100 surveys by the closing date of May 17, 2022.
Survey data will contribute to a community action plan tailored to the unique connectivity needs of the county. The plan will leverage community resources and identify solutions for improving internet connectivity for families, businesses, and community organizations.
Having good data at the community level is important. Current maps provided by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) identifying the number of residents and businesses that have adequate broadband service are often overstated. The goal of the survey is to clearly identify a community’s unique challenges and opportunities for expanding high-speed internet so that every family, business, and community organization can access the critical resources needed to be connected. The Broadband Committee will work with CN Texas to analyze data and make recommendations to help close the Digital Divide in Foard County.
A Technology Action Plan will be developed for the county by leveraging Connected Nation’s Connected Community Engagement Program and will be shaped by the information provided by local stakeholders. Gathering as much information as possible will help ensure that no area is left out of the plan.
The Connected program has been used in nearly 650 communities across the country to develop county or regional Technology Action Plans that offer both short- and long-term broadband solutions.
