Northern Kentucky area partners announce donation of 50 laptops, launch of free digital skills training for local residents

Newport, Ky. (March 5, 2026) –  Connected Nation (CN), AT&T Kentucky, and Brighton Center are partnering to provide 50 laptop devices and critical digital skills to Northern Kentucky residents.  The devices are being furnished through AT&T’s Tech 4 Training program, with Compudot managing refurbishment and preparation of the laptops to ensure participants receive reliable, high-quality devices.

“In 2026, digital literacy is as fundamental as reading or writing,” said Wonda Winkler, President & CEO, Brighton Center. “By putting these laptops directly into the hands of those we serve and pairing them with high-level digital training, we aren't just handing out tools—we’re unlocking new pathways to self-sufficiency and long-term career growth in an increasingly tech-driven economy,"

“At AT&T, we know that a connection is only as powerful as the person using it,” said Carlos Sanchez, President, AT&T Kentucky. “We are proud to expand our Tech 4 Training program in Northern Kentucky, ensuring that residents don't just have the hardware they need, but the confidence to navigate a world where AI and digital platforms define how we work, learn, and live."

Training and computer distribution will take place as part of an ongoing digital inclusion initiative led by Brighton Center’s Newport-area facilities and CN. This work builds on the organizations’ longstanding partnership that’s focused on digital skills training, broadband access, and community technology planning.

"As we look toward the landscape of 2026 and beyond, being 'connected' is no longer optional—it's essential for survival," said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, CN. "This initiative isn't just about providing computers; it's about future-proofing the Northern Kentucky community and empowering residents with the digital resilience they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving world."
