Connected Nation wins eight national Communicator Awards

Bowling Green, Ky. (May 15, 2024) – Connected Nation (CN) was honored last week with eight wins at the 30th Annual Communicator Awards. These national awards spotlight the organization's innovative approach to spreading awareness about closing the Digital Divide while also working to expand digital accessibility and education across various platforms.

“Because we’re a nonprofit, we don’t necessarily have the same marketing dollars as large for-profit organizations. However, the Communications team is still tasked with creating campaigns to help everyone from local residents to state broadband offices understand how Connected Nation can assist them in shaping and achieving their broadband and digital equity goals,” said Jessica Denson, Communications Director, CN. “As a result, we’ve gotten really good at getting earned media and finding creative ways to garner attention. To receive these accolades shows that we’re not only doing some of the best communications work among our peers, but, more importantly, that we’re effectively getting the word out about Connected Nation’s mission.”

The CN Podcast won an Award of Excellence, the highest honor given, in the Podcast Series - Technology category. This series has been instrumental in making complex technology topics accessible and engaging for all listeners. A major transformation of the CN website, completed in partnership with Hatfield Media, resulted in awards for General-Causes & Awareness (Excellence) and General-Non-Profit (Distinction).

The Award of Excellence is given to those entrants whose ability to communicate positions them as the best in the field. The Award of Distinction is presented to projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.

"Connected Nation is an incredible organization serving communities in dire need of connectivity," said Drake Hatfield, President & CEO of Hatfield Media. "Our team is honored to have created a user-first design which serves the organization and those in need of advocacy. These awards validate our vision and collaborative effort to enhance digital access."

CN’s efforts extended to its social media platforms, which were recognized in the Campaigns & Series-Social Account by a Brand category, highlighting its effective engagement strategies.
