Connected Nation Launches Innovative Broadband Analytics Tool

Newest Broadband Mapping Platform Highlighted at Broadband Communities Summit

Dallas, TX (April 26, 2012) – Connected Nation, a leading technology non-profit, today announced the launch of its new and improved broadband mapping tool, My ConnectView™, offering unmatched views of the technology landscape across multiple states.

Designed by Connected Nation’s geographic information system staff to replace previous mapping applications, My ConnectView is the premiere broadband mapping analysis tool, featuring more interactive data layers, additional tools to explore data; and the ability to create, print, and share custom maps.

Connected Nation unveiled My ConnectView this week at the Broadband Communities Summit and Rural Telecommunications Congress in Dallas, Texas, where broadband mapping has been a central focus for national and state stakeholders.

“My ConnectView is a milestone for all of us working to provide broadband to unserved and underserved areas of the nation,” said CN President and COO Tom Ferree. “USF reform and other developments on the federal policy front will dramatically change the face of the local broadband landscape in the months and years ahead. The implications of these efforts are profound for economic growth, greater access to education and healthcare resources, and overall quality of life for millions of Americans on the wrong side of the digital divide. Accurate and real-time broadband mapping is essential to this effort.”

My ConnectView is a valuable tool for consumers, policy makers, Internet providers, and planning teams working to increase broadband access, adoption, and use in communities across the nation. The new application is also a valuable application for Connected Nation’s new Connected community certification program, which entails assessing a community’s current state of technology, forming local teams, and devising a plan for achieving greater connectivity and technology use.

Connected Nation, through the management of ten State Broadband Initiatives, is the largest contributor of data for the national broadband mapping program and has just completed its 5th round of broadband data updates to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. These data can be viewed by visiting the national broadband map (http://www.broadbandmap.gov/)

Connected Nation urges citizens and providers to use the mapping tool to help verify the information presented and to respond if they can't get access to broadband. Connected Nation uses such feedback to ensure the maps are accurate and to reach out to providers and community leaders to promote broadband expansion into unserved and underserved areas of the country.
