Connected Nation honored for online resource hub in response to the coronavirus crisis
Bowling Green, Ky. (June 8, 2021) – Connected Nation (CN) is being honored by PR News for its Digital Newsroom “Responding to the Coronavirus Crisis.” This online newsroom provided immediate and critical resources for individuals and families as well as local and state leaders in response to the need for better internet access during the pandemic.
“Connected Nation has worked in the broadband space for two decades and when businesses and schools started shutting down in March 2020, we recognized immediately that there would be a critical need to help families and individuals who did not have adequate internet access,” said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, Connected Nation. “We also knew that state and local leaders would need help understanding how to navigate finding immediate and long-term solutions for improving internet connectivity across their states and regions. For those reasons and more, we worked quickly to provide free and easy-to-understand online resources.”
Those free resources include, among other things: low-income internet options; technical tips for improving current home internet access; telework support and home office tips; telehealth usage videos to help people navigate the technology; digital literacy training; at-home tips for remote learning; and State and Community Connectivity COVID-19 Response Plans.
“Long before the pandemic hit our country, our teams saw firsthand how the lack of broadband access could negatively impact everyone from kids to senior citizens,” said Jessica Denson, Communications Director, Connected Nation. “For that reason, the communications department, with the support of Connected Nation’s experts and our web development company, Hatfield Media, quickly developed these initial resources in early March 2020. Our team has since worked to continually improve upon those resources in response to the need. That hard work helped people in a time of crisis which is why I’m so proud of our team for this honor.”
