Connected Nation and M-1 Studios honored with Telly Award for work to improve understanding of telehealth
Bowling Green, Ky. (June 1, 2021) – Connected Nation (CN), in partnership with M-1 Studios, produced a series of Public Service Announcements to create a better understanding of how to use telehealth while protecting patient privacy and avoiding other pitfalls. The long-form version of those PSAs titled “All about telehealth in 7 minutes or less” was honored with a Bronze Telly Award in the category of non-broadcast-general: health and wellness.
“This project was in response to a Connected Nation Michigan study that was released in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit the nation,” said Eric Frederick, Executive Director, Connected Nation Michigan (CN Michigan). “That study identified some of the obstacles to using telehealth. We originally planned to meet with communities in-person to help overcome those challenges, but the pandemic forced us to change that approach. We needed another way to get this critical information to those who needed it most. M-1 Studios proved to be the perfect partner for this project.”
CN Michigan, the statewide program of national nonprofit Connected Nation (CN), worked with M-1 Studios which is located in Ferndale, Michigan to produce a series of six PSA’s—five one-minute videos for broadcast television and one long-form video for virtual settings that combined the findings into one piece.
"Partnering with Connected Nation, our team (including Matthew Peach, Chelsey Knapp, and Eric Winkler) were able to schedule and film all the on-location productions needed throughout the State of Michigan while maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols for all of the interview subjects, and also provide a quick turnaround time for the final content edits", said Mike Madigan, Vice-President M-1 Studios.
“The staff at M-1 Studios is professional and each member of the team is highly-skilled at his or her craft which was demonstrated by the high-quality product that was produced,” said Jessica Denson, Communications Director, Connected Nation. “We organized this telehealth shoot during the height of the pandemic, and we had to trust them to maintain a safe working space while capturing some great footage. They did both with professionalism. This honor is proof that partnering with M-1 Studios means partnering with a top-notch organization.”
M-1 Studios provided field production, shooting, and editing services. CN’s communications team handled shoot schedules, interviewee questions, and script writing for each of the telehealth videos. The partnership produced free, shareable videos that can be found here: connectednation.org/telehealth/. The award-winning piece can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR_9dFi9RLY.
