Charter Awards Digital Works in Columbus, Ohio with $35,000 Grant as Part of $1 Million Spectrum Digital Education Commitment

Columbus, Oh. (December 1, 2017) – Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) today announced that Digital Works at the Reeb Avenue Center in Columbus, Ohio, is one of the recipients of its inaugural Spectrum Digital Education Grants. Digital Works will receive $35,000 to improve digital literacy through internet classes, and job skills training & placement.  It will also continue to collect data on the specific barriers to broadband adoption and use.

“Through these grants Charter Communications is showing it’s a good corporate citizen,” Stu Johnson, Vice President of Digital Works, said. “Our programs provide digital literacy, customer service training, and job placement assistance and ongoing mentorship. Students, single parents, senior citizens, those with physical challenges, and others are learning how the internet and tech skills can improve their lives. We are excited about this opportunity to expand our reach and help more families and individuals because of Charter’s financial support.”

Spectrum Digital Education is a new philanthropic initiative, designed to support nonprofit organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use it to improve their lives. Spectrum Digital Education grants are part of an overall $1 million commitment to provide digital education in Charter communities through financial grants, PSAs, workshops and webinars to local nonprofit organizations.

Digital Works is one of 17 grant recipients nationwide chosen, from among more than 200 eligible grant applications.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the interest generated by and the quality of the submissions received for the Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program,” said Rahman Khan, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Charter Communications. “After careful review, we are confident that the organizations like Digital Works will help further our mission to provide communities in need with the necessary tools to grow and prosper in the digital age.”

Spectrum is committed to improving communities and impacting lives where our customers and employees live, work and play. We do this through our two signature programs, Spectrum Digital Education — focusing on helping families and seniors learn more about digital technology in underrepresented communities — and Spectrum Housing Assist, with a goal of making 25,000 homes safer and healthier by the year 2020.
