Bowling Green, Ky. (June 13, 2022) – The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has once again named Connected Nation (CN) among the Best Places to Work in Kentucky—awarding the organization with a 20th place ranking in the small-sized employer category (those employing 15-149 U.S. employees).

“We value our employees at Connected Nation and work hard to ensure our staff has a work environment where they feel supported and empowered to be innovative and forward thinking,” said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO. “Our mission at Connected nation is to expand access, adoption, and use of high-speed internet to all Americans. That will only be achieved if we have some of the most talented people in the country working on this often complicated and difficult problem. To attract that level of talent, we must continue to challenge ourselves to create a workplace where leaders in their field can thrive thanks to a great company culture.”

This is the 11th time the Bowling Green-based, national nonprofit, which has employees working remotely in Kentucky and across the country, has been given the distinction. Connected Nation received its highest-ranking last year—earning sixth place.

“I have worked in numerous organizations, both public and private sector, throughout my career. When I became aware of Connected Nation's mission to close the Digital Divide, I felt inspired to act and join the cause,” said Claudia Rico, M.S.P.P.M., Project Management Lead. “Since joining the organization, I truly feel membership in a team that values each perspective. My ideas are heard, and everyone genuinely cares for my well-being and helps me succeed. This speaks to Connected Nation's employees' quality and excellent company culture. Every conversation is geared toward finding opportunities to help the communities across the country. We are service-driven, from our technical teams to the many employees working shoulder-to-shoulder with our communities. Connected Nation is great because we all share the mission of providing equitable digital connectedness throughout the United States."

This is the 18th year for the competition, which is “designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence,” according to the Kentucky Chamber.

Winners from across the state fall into three categories: small, medium, and large companies. The selection process is based on an assessment of each company’s policies and procedures as well as the results of an internal employee survey.

The rankings in each category were announced on Thursday, June 9, during an awards dinner held dinner at the Center Bank Center in Lexington, Ky. Click on this link to view the entire list of this year’s winners and their rankings.
