Tyler County committee needs your input on work to improve high-speed internet access and use across county
Tyler County, Texas (February 10, 2021) – The Tyler County Broadband Committee launched today its work to develop a county-specific Technology Action Plan. The committee, in partnership with Connected Nation Texas (CN Texas), is looking at both immediate and long-term solutions for improving high-speed internet access, adoption, and use across the county.
“We understand that everyone across Tyler County should have access to the resources they need and can find online for themselves, their families, their work, and more. That means we must identify where the Digital Divide is in our county and find ways to expand and improve access for all our communities,” said Judge Jacques L. Blanchette, Tyler County. “The input provided by local residents, businesses, and community organizations will help inform and shape the development of this plan that will ultimately help us identify challenges and provide actionable solutions for the entire county.”
Tyler County is among 27 communities that are being selected to participate in a statewide effort led by CN Texas and funded by the Texas Rural Funders—at no cost to the county itself. As part of this effort, the Committee is asking every individual, business, and community organization to take 10 minutes and fill out this short survey: https://www.myconnectedcommunity.org/tyler-county/.
“Having access to the internet means having access to doctors and specialists through telehealth, a global market for our small businesses, educational opportunities for our children, and so much more,” said Judge Blanchette. “This plan will help us find ways to ensure that everyone in Tyler County can access those resources that can help each person improve his or her quality of life. Help us develop a plan that truly reflects the unique needs of our county by taking part in the survey.”
The Technology Action Plan, which will be developed by leveraging Connected Nation’s Connected Community Engagement Program, will be shaped by the information provided by local stakeholders. The Connected Program has been used in nearly 400 communities across the country to develop county or regional-specific Technology Action Plans that have both short term and long-term broadband solutions.
