VIDEO: Enhanced Broadband Coverage Maps for Every Texas County Released, Give New Insights on Access

Austin, TX (August 13, 2020) - Connected Nation Texas (CN Texas) just released new broadband (high-speed internet) coverage maps that provide updated details on internet speeds and coverage for all 254 counties across the Lone Star State.

The updated maps, which were initially released in January 2020, now include additional input from residents, businesses, and communities, as well as new, more granular data from internet service providers (ISPs).

State Program Director, Jennifer Harris, spoke with RFD-TV, a broadcast group that focuses on rural affairs issues across the country, about what CN Texas has now learned about broadband access in the state.

“We are seeing that almost one million Texans still don’t have access to broadband at the minimum level,” said Harris. “I was thinking about it and that’s like having the entire of state of South Dakota not connected to broadband.”

Watch the video and learn which areas are hit the hardest and what can be done to improve access for all communities.  You can also find the updated state, county, and interactive broadband coverage maps—and provide feedback on those updates—by heading to this webpage:  https://connectednation.org/texas/mapping-analysis/.
