Connected Nation Cares: A Veterans Day Tribute
Bowling Green, KY (November 11, 2019) –Today we celebrate Veterans Day. At Connected Nation, we support all who have bravely served our country. CN supports veterans and current military members through one-of-a-kind job-creation programs developed specifically to meet the growing demand for online and digitally trained workers.
Last fall, Connected Nation launched its Digital Works program in Fort Knox, Kentucky, to focus on helping spouses and veterans learn the skills they need to fill remote and telework positions. This four-
week program was offered at no charge to participants thanks to the support of the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs (KCMA), the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA), AT&T, and the Elizabethtown Community & Technical College (ECTC).
“If you can get into this program, learn a job, get a job working from home, then whenever you move to a new duty station, you go overseas, whatever the case may be, you will still have a job,” said Paula Clark, a veteran and military spouse.
This program not only serves current members of the military and their spouses, but also veterans.
“I thought it would be nice to have a job where I could work from home and still be able to see my grandkids,” said Amador Garcia, a retired military veteran. “Then when I was presented this opportunity of the Digital Works program, it’s like everything fell into place and I was able to get the kind of job I wanted and be there for my family.”
Digital Works represents more than 70 regional, national, and global employers with incredible demand for remote workers. The program delivers customized training so that students learn the in-demand skills that companies are seeking in today’s modern workforce.
