Broadband Access: Internet Service Providers

Internet service providers (ISPs) should be part of and kept informed of activities of the local broadband/technology team. It is important to build relationships with your local ISPs as these companies can often provide connectivity and solutions to problems once they are identified. Additionally, public-private partnerships (covered later in this document) can be successful models for expanding broadband service or accomplishing a number of other related goals.

ISPs are often willing to share information about the network capacity in the community. By including ISPs in local broadband efforts, providers may be more likely to share information about their network locations, capacity, and the barriers they face.
