Bowling Green, Ky. (April 20, 2018) - Connected Nation Chairman and CEO, Tom Ferree, issued the following statement regarding Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Mignon Clyburn’s announcement that she will be leaving the agency.

“On behalf of Connected Nation, I would like to recognize and applaud the distinguished years of service of FCC Commissioner, Mignon Clyburn. She is a friend and ally to our organization and countless other communities and organizations in the effort to bridge the Digital Divide. She has been a tireless champion for bringing digital opportunity to rural America as well as our country’s more vulnerable populations. She was most at home when she was working and gathering with stakeholders in such settings.

“I witnessed firsthand her selfless and unbridled passion for digital equity in a rural South Carolina community. Facing a long road trip back to DC, the Commissioner was still literally the last person to leave that small community center, having ensured that she met with everyone on the important matter of broadband expansion to their small town. Last, but certainly not least, I would like to recognize Commissioner Clyburn for the great role model she has been to many women and young girls in her distinction as the first woman to rise to Chair of the Commission. Thank you, and best wishes, Commissioner Clyburn.”
