Kim Reynolds 300x300 Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA)

Des Moines, IA (April 25, 2019) - The Iowa legislature this week passed the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative (HF 772). This important piece of legislation will, among other things, focus on expanding rural broadband across the state.

According to the southernminn.com, it sets new standards for rural broadband and updates 2014 service maps to reflect new installations. Connected Nation applauds this effort which will help connect families, businesses, farmers, and whole communities across Iowa to the opportunities and resources many of us already enjoy.

“If we are going to be successful as a state, there needs to be growth and prosperity in every single corner of Iowa," said Gov. Kim Reynolds in a statement. "With the passage of today's legislation, we are one step closer to achieving that goal. This initiative serves as a connector to existing programs and resources which provide our communities with a roadmap for continued success.” -

“Empowering rural Iowa is all about making sure our entire state is positioned to be successful today and in the future. Through hard work, creative thinking, and problem-solving, we can make Iowa the place to seek the American dream,” added Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg who serves as the Empower Rural Iowa Co-Chair.
