Digital Works in Rural America

Bowling Green, KY. (April 22nd, 2019) - If you were born and raised in rural America, you know first-hand how few and far between employment opportunities are and why many living in these areas end up moving to bigger cities. Unfortunately, that has left a lot of small towns at an extreme disadvantage. To put it bluntly—they face extinction.

Should you live in one of these small towns, you are faced with four choices:

  • Stay and work for extremely low pay

  • Stay and make long commutes to the nearest big city for work

  • Relocate to a larger metropolitan area

  • Give up entirely

However, there is another option that Connected Nation is working hard to bring to all communities across the U.S. If you live in rural America and have broadband (high-speed internet) access, you might be well suited to work from home.

Our Digital Works training program prepares people for remote work opportunities and virtual employment options via the internet. It provides a way for them to support themselves and their families without having to leave their hometown. It gives them hope.
