The Cost of Being Excluded From a Digital World
Bowling Green, KY. (November 26, 2018) - Access to high-speed internet is now more than a want — it's a need. The cost of being excluded is too high for small businesses, making it hard to reach their full potential without the tools and resources broadband provides.
Heather Gate, director of Digital Inclusion at Connected Nation, spoke with RDF-TV about how the internet has transformed our world and how not having access impacts families, businesses, and communities.
"The internet and other broadband-related technologies have empowered us in ways we could not have imagined 30 years ago,” said Gate. “Now we can operate and grow our businesses using online tools and resources.”
Gate helps to develop and implement programs in areas that have been trapped in the digital divide. She oversees projects to identify problems and researches funding opportunities.
