Broadband Development Office Invites Community Members to Public Meeting

Borger, Texas (August 2, 2023) — The Texas Broadband Development Office (BDO) is asking the public to attend a meeting regarding internet accessibility, affordability and usage. The BDO, administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, will accept feedback from this meeting to help develop the Texas Digital Opportunity Plan, which is required to draw down federal funding for connecting Texans to reliable, high-speed internet. The BDO expects to complete the plan this fall.

The public meeting will be held on August 10, from 9-11 am, at the Dome Civic and Convention Center, 1113 Bulldog Boulevard in Borger.

“The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC), alongside essential partners, is at the forefront of advocating for the advancement of reliable and affordable high-speed internet in our region, particularly in rural West Texas. Recognizing the significance of this matter, we are actively leading efforts to ensure that our community's needs are addressed,” said Alex Guerrero, Local Government Services Director for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. “The Broadband Regional Public Meeting in Borger presents a valuable opportunity for Panhandle residents to contribute their firsthand experiences and insights regarding the availability and accessibility of broadband services. By doing so, we can effectively represent our region's unique challenges and requirements in the development of the Texas Digital Opportunity Plan. This plan will serve as a gateway to secure federal funding aimed at enhancing internet services across our area.”
