Mobile Coverage Required: Do You Have It?

Orlando, Fl. (March 2018) - Connected Nation (CN) staff is taking part in the International Wireless Communications Expo in Orlando, Florida, March 5-9.

“It’s like Christmas for a techno-geek like me,” said Chip Spann, Director of Engineering & Technical Services for Connected Nation.

Spann is there to share details on how CN is supporting the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) efforts to improve communications and broadband access in rural areas.

ODOT was awarded federal funding through the 2015 Transportation Investment General Economic Recovery (TIGER) VII competitive grant program. Connected Nation is supporting ODOT’s work by helping to map rural access.

Jane Miller is the project manager for the TIGER VII program in Ohio. She gave attendees an update on the progress the state is making and why it’s important. Spann discussed how CN’s drive-testing is ensuring the department has the most granular data possible to make informed decisions. The pair presented during the "Mobile Coverage Required. Do You Have It?" session.

The expo, which is dubbed “the premier event for communications technology,” runs March 5 to March 9.  For more on ODOT’s work to improve rural access, head to its project webpage.
