Cybercrime: Newaygo County, MI - Public Safety


While the proliferation of the internet has brought about a multitude of improvements in the lives of many, it has also precipitated new forms of criminal activity. Fraud, identity theft, and hacking are just a few ways in which criminals can use the internet to take advantage of residents, businesses, and institutions. Both a strong proactive and reactive strategy to address cybercrime and staying safe online are best to keep communities safe. This chart examines the ways in which law enforcement entities in the community are addressing cybercrime. Fifteen methods for addressing the issue are listed and community agencies that deal with cybercrime and security indicated whether they are currently implementing any of the methods. The percents shown for each method are the number of agencies in the community currently implementing the various methods compared to agencies from other Connected communities.
