Charter Communications and Louisville Metro Housing Authority partner to bring high-speed broadband to hundreds of affordable housing units

LMHA to Provide Spectrum Internet® to Parkway Place Apartments Residents.

LOUISVILLE (Jan. 27, 2021) – Charter Communications, Inc., announced today that its Spectrum Community Solutions organization and the Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) have reached agreement on a partnership to provide high-speed broadband to residents in hundreds of LHMA affordable housing units.

Spectrum will provide each residential unit at Parkway Place Apartments with Spectrum Internet, including starting speeds of 200 Mbps and in-home WiFi, with no data caps or modem fees. Service is expected to be activated early this spring, and Spectrum will work with LMHA management to schedule rapid installation, deploying teams of technicians to activate service quickly in each unit.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the dire effects of the digital divide,” said LMHA Executive Director, Lisa Osanka. “Many families have either struggled to manage without an adequate internet connection or strained budgets to provide one. LMHA’s partnership with Spectrum Community Solutions will afford Parkway Place families access to broadband services for non-traditional K-12 instruction, increased work from home opportunities, enrolling in online college or just keeping in touch with family and friends as they manage to stay healthy at home.”

Spectrum Community Solutions offers industry-leading wired and wireless broadband and video services — including gigabit connections — to residents of apartments, off-campus student housing, senior residences, RV parks and marinas throughout Spectrum’s 41-state service area.

“This partnership helps close the digital divide by providing high-quality, high-speed broadband at a critical time for vulnerable families, who need reliable connectivity,” said Adam Ray, Executive Vice President of Spectrum Community Solutions. “Our team is committed to working with Louisville Metro Housing to ensure our dedicated service organization delivers the very best onboarding experience to residents.”

The Federal Communications Commission’s Tenth Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report highlighted how Spectrum is outperforming benchmarks and delivering superior services to our customers. Spectrum Internet exceeded 100% of advertised speeds during peak times on all speeds measured — three downstream speeds and two upstream speeds.
