Getting Up-to-speed on Broadband Legislation

This quarter has seen a flurry of broadband legislation and programs aimed at increasing high-speed internet access and adoption across the country. Connected Nation's (CN) policy team tracks these developments closely as the nonprofit works to get broadband deployed in even the most unserved of communities.

Tom Ferree, CN's Chairman & CEO, recently talked with RFD-TV about the work lawmakers are doing.  The nationally-broadcast station is focused on issues that impact the “rural and Western lifestyle” with a mission of connecting “city with country.”

"This Congress really seems to understand the importance of getting broadband data mapping correct," Ferree said. "Because with the billions of dollars being provisioned for these solutions here, we really need to know where those [internet access] gaps are in the country and this focus on improved broadband mapping will help better inform that data and where that money should flow."

Ferree also addressed the Digital Equity Act and the focus on bipartisan efforts to expand broadband. Watch the full 3 minutes interview below.
