Texas Veterans Create Online Community

War veterans in Texas are getting connected like never before with the state’s very first virtual Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post!

Central Texas veterans have founded VFW Post Kiernan which is connecting members and conducting business using online tools and social media.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Kiernan is named after US Army Staff Sergeant Christopher Kiernan, who was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, on May 6, 2007.

A 2011 Military Times survey reported in 2011 that only 13 percent of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans belong to veterans organizations that provide support and other benefits.

Connected Texas is proud to support VFW Post Kiernan and is working with members to promote better broadband access, adoption, and use among veterans across the state.
