Texas Gearing Up For Broadband Communities Summit

Connected Texas is helping make April a month to focus on broadband in communities!

In addition to the Digital Inclusion Conference that Connected Texas is co-hosting in Austin in late April, Executive Director Don Shirley is headed to Dallas on April 16 to participate in the 2013 Broadband Communities Summit!

The 2013 Broadband Communities Summit is being held in Dallas on April 16-18th and will include panels of broadband experts and interested parties of librarians, educators, and local officials. Shirley will present on a variety of topics including the Connected program, MyConnectView, and FirstNet planning and deployment.

The FirstNet interactive panel session will show how multimedia voice, video, and data applications can help communities improve safety and emergency response through FirstNet. The landmark program will create a much-needed public safety network for police, firefighters, emergency medical professionals and other public safety officials. In addition, FirstNet will improve operations, expand training, and enhance the interoperability of communications and cut costs.

The Connected program involves critical broadband providers and local community relationships while MyConnectView is an interactive web mapping application that contains valuable data on Texas’ broadband coverage.
