Connected Nation celebrates outstanding Geospatial Analyst Nii Aryee during Black History Month

Bowling Green, Kentucky (February 6, 2024) - Nii Aryee is a Senior Geospatial Analyst at Connection Nation. He grew up in Accra, Ghana, where he attended the University of Ghana. There, he received his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in geoscience, with a concentration in geographic information systems (GIS).

While Nii was receiving his undergrad in Ghana, he worked as a data collection tech at a mapping company. His job exposed him to the mapping world, and he also enjoys looking at maps for fun. This fueled him to want to get a graduate degree in GIS. He says it was never his plan to come to Kentucky, but he faced difficulty in finding a graduate school as an international student. When he was accepted to WKU, he came here in part because it offered him an affordable education.

Nii began working at Connected Nation as an intern as he was finishing his graduate degree. Here, he was able to apply his education to the real world. Upon finishing his internship, Nii was offered a full-time position with the company.

Nii shared that there is always a more efficient way to use software and programs to accomplish what needs to be done, which is what he loves about GIS. His field is constantly upgrading and changing with technological advancements. While it can be challenging and time consuming to keep up, he really enjoys the work.
