Bowling Green, Ky. (September 9, 2020) – Connected Nation (CN) was just named among the top five Best Places to Work in the small business category by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM) and ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company. This is the ninth time the Kentucky-based, national nonprofit has been honored among the best places to work in the state, and at fifth place, it is CN’s highest ranking yet.

“Being ranked among the Best Places to Work is not just a badge of honor, but it is also extremely important to our work as a nonprofit,” said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, CN.  “Connected Nation’s mission is to find innovative solutions for expanding the access, adoption, and use of broadband and its related technologies to ALL people. The pandemic has demonstrated just how important that mission is — everyone needs high-speed internet for things like remote learning, telework, telehealth, goods and services, and so many other online resources that can improve their lives.”

“We must work hard to not only empower our staff to tackle the challenge of improving connectivity in all communities head-on, but also to have a culture that attracts the most creative and solution-oriented people to help us achieve our goals,” added Stephanie Rivera, Human Resource Manager, CN. “That is why all of us at Connected Nation, especially our leadership team, are continually focused on finding new ways to enhance the workplace environment and ensure every employee has the tools he or she needs to succeed.”

This is the 16thyear for the competition which, according to the Kentucky Chamber, is “designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence.”

The official rankings were announced today during the annual Best Places to Work in Kentucky awards event, which was held virtually this year due to the pandemic. The selection process is based on an assessment of each company’s policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey.

“Connected Nation’s employees are dedicated to bringing access to all families, businesses, schools, and communities — both rural and urban,’” said Chris Pedersen, Executive Vice President, Planning and Development, CN. “The exciting thing about this honor is that our employees are saying ‘this is a great place to work’ and are inspired by the entire team and what we are doing together. It’s important for every employee to feel appreciated, empowered, and effective in tackling the difficult but rewarding work of closing the Digital Divide. Our mission is one that impacts families and communities across the country and, now more than ever, we need talented and dedicated staff to make it a reality.”

Winners from across the state fall into three categories: small, medium, and large companies.

Connected Nation was among 38 Kentucky companies in the small-size employer category (15-149 U.S. employees) to receive this year’s honor.
