Regarding the White House Infrastructure Plan

Statement by Connected Nation CEO Tom Ferree
Regarding the White House Infrastructure Plan Released Yesterday

(March 1, 2018) - Connected Nation applauds the Trump Administration’s commitment to improving America’s infrastructure—including rural broadband—in the plan released by the White House yesterday.

At least 11 million households still lack access to broadband services, leaving many rural areas at an economic, educational, and social disadvantage as compared to their urban counterparts. We believe that fast, affordable broadband connections are just as essential as modern highways to the vitality of any community, and that more must be done to ensure that all Americans have the ability to connect.

At the same time, we call on Congress and the Executive Branch to take steps to improve broadband data collection and mapping to ensure that any future investments in broadband are accurately targeted to areas that need assistance the most.

We look forward to working with the White House and Congress on these issues as we seek to close the Digital Divide once and for all.

Everyone belongs in a Connected Nation.
