Iowans are ahead of the national curve in realizing that broadband is worth the added cost!
Broadband subscribers can save time and money by completing numerous activities online, such as communicating by e-mail, applying or searching for jobs, purchasing goods or services, paying bills, and reading news, to name a few.
In 2011, Connected Nation found that nearly two-thirds (65%) of adults subscribe to home broadband service, representing an estimated 154 million adults in the US.
In Iowa, nearly two out of three adults (63%) subscribe to home broadband service. This equates to nearly 1.5 million Iowa adults with a home broadband connection. Among these Iowans, more than one in six (17%, or 242,000 Iowans who subscribe to broadband) said that the main reason they subscribed was because they realized that home broadband service was worth the added cost.
That’s significantly higher than the average of all states Connected Nation surveyed in 2011 (Alaska, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas), where 14% of broadband subscribers adopted the service because they realized it was worth the money.
