Karnes County Broadband Committee to launch broadband survey, community invited to kickoff meeting July 29

Karnes County, Texas (July 22, 2022) – The Karnes County Broadband Committee, in partnership with Connected Nation Texas (CN Texas) and funded by Superior HealthPlan, is inviting local stakeholders, community residents, and media to attend a special kickoff event on Friday, July 29, at 9 a.m. to discuss expanding and improving broadband access, adoption, and use throughout Karnes County. Attendees will learn more about broadband access in their community, the Connected Community Engagement Program at CN Texas, and the project timeline. The meeting will conclude with a Q&A session.

The event will be held at:

Karnes County Commissioners Court

101 N. Panna Maria Ave.

Karnes City, Texas 78118

"This is a great opportunity for Karnes County residents, businesses, schools, and our local government entities," said Karnes County Commissioner, Shelby Dupnik. "Improving our broadband coverage and quality will provide opportunities to residents and all who access broadband."

For those who cannot attend the kickoff meeting, the Karnes County Broadband Committee is asking residents, business owners, ranchers, agriculture producers, first responders, community institutions, and health care officials to participate in a 10-minute survey designed to assess internet needs and usage throughout the community. Respondents are asked to select the survey category or categories that best represents them or their organization, and they can complete more than one survey.

Survey data will contribute to a community action plan tailored to the county’s unique broadband needs. The plan will leverage community resources and identify solutions for improving internet connectivity for families, businesses, and community organizations.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to share their feedback beginning July 29. Access the survey by visiting: https://connectednation.org/karnes-county-texas.

“We encourage everyone to participate. This will be a great benefit to our residents, at little to no cost to our taxpayer,” said Karnes County Judge Wade J. Hedtke.
