Deadline Extended: Midland County needs your help to improve internet access, speeds for businesses and homes

Midland County, Mich. (January 13, 2020) – The Midland County Broadband Committee is working to create a Technology Action Plan that will expand and improve high-speed internet access for all county residents, businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and community organizations. The committee is asking for input from as many people and groups as possible to ensure the plan accurately reflects the internet needs of the county.

“We all know how important high-speed internet access is, and the past year has made it more critical than ever,” said Tony Stamas, President & CEO, Midland Business Alliance. “Whether it’s to make work processes and communication possible, enable telemedicine or improve virtual learning options for families.”

In late October, the Midland County Broadband Committee, in partnership with Connected Nation Michigan (CN Michigan), launched its Connected Community Engagement Program asking local residents, businesses, and others to take part in a 10-minute survey. The deadline for filling out the survey has been extended to Friday, January 22, to give everyone more time to submit responses. To provide input, fill out the survey for your specific residence, business or organization at the website below:

“As we work to make Midland a community where all can thrive, it is vital that individuals, businesses and families have access to high-speed internet,” said Sharon Mortensen, President & CEO of Midland Area Community Foundation. “We are pleased to partner with others from across the community in this important effort.”

The Connected program has developed Technology Action Plans for more than 400 communities, counties, and regions across the country. For more details, head to https://connectednation.org/connect-my-community/.

“We’re proud to be working with a great group of county leaders on the Midland County Broadband Committee to help them achieve their goal of bringing fast and reliable broadband access to all residents and businesses across the county”, said Dan Manning, Community Technology Advisor for CN Michigan.
