Rep. Scherer and Connected Nation Ohio Host Public Meeting on Rural Broadband, Improving Broadband Maps
Circleville, OH (February 11, 2020) –State Rep. Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) will host a public meeting on Tuesday, February 18, to discuss updated broadband coverage maps for Ohio and to hear from constituents about current issues with internet access.
Connected Nation Ohio (CN Ohio), a local subsidiary of the national nonprofit Connected Nation, will

provide an overview of the current broadband coverage maps for the area. The nonprofit has been working with broadband service providers to accurately map broadband service areas, identify and analyze where broadband coverage is lacking, and create innovative solutions to improve connectivity statewide.
“I look forward to the opportunity to hear from the individuals of the 92nd House District about broadband coverage in their area,” Representative Scherer said. “I encourage everyone to fill out this survey and to continue to keep in touch with my office. By holding this public meeting, I am confident that the public will not only learn more about broadband coverage initiatives, but will be able to further inform Connected Nation’s map-drawing efforts to improve broadband access.”
The event will take place at the Pickaway County Main Library, 1160 North Court St., in Circleville. During the public meeting, local stakeholders and the public will have an opportunity to review the state’s recently released broadband service availability maps, provide feedback on where coverage truly is and is not, as well as discuss other technology plans specific to the community and region.
“Our team has spent the last several months working with broadband providers across the state to create a more accurate map of current coverage,” said Tina Lyden, State Program Director, CN Ohio. “We need feedback on what is correct and what areas may need to be revisited. Getting input from the public is so important because this information will help inform Ohio leaders’ work to expand broadband access to all Ohioans—and our leaders need good data to be able to make impactful and positive decisions when it comes to developing a plan for each region of the state.”
