Nine Years and Counting: Connected Nation is Again Honored as a Best Place to Work in Kentucky

Logo TopBowling Green, Ky. (January 27, 2020) – Connected Nation (CN) has once again been named one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. This is the ninth time the Kentucky-based, national nonprofit has been given the distinction.

“It is an honor to be once again included amongst the incredible companies in this year’s slate of ‘Best Places to Work,’ said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, CN.  “And as exciting as it is to receive this recognition, we are particularly proud of our company’s longevity in this regard.  Having made this coveted list for nearly a decade shows that this company has committed long-term to creating the kind of work environment where creativity and innovation flourish.  It’s who we are as individuals; an endemic part of our culture—one where employees are supported, trusted, and encouraged to do great things!”

This is the 16th year for the competition which, according to the Kentucky Chamber, is “designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence.”  Winners from across the state fall into three categories: small, medium, and large companies. The selection process is based on an assessment of each company’s policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey.

“The exciting thing about this honor is that Connected Nation’s staff is saying ‘this is a great place to work,’” said Chris Pedersen, Vice President, Planning and Development, CN. “It’s important for every employee to feel empowered as we tackle the difficult and often challenging work of closing the Digital Divide. Our mission is one that impacts families and communities across the country. Being recognized this way allows us to attract other highly-skilled and mission-minded professionals who can help us reach our goals of connecting every community.”

CN’s staff works directly with local, state, and federal leaders and stakeholders to identify solutions that expand the access, adoption, and use of broadband (high-speed internet) and its related technologies to all people. The company’s employees are dedicated to bringing access to all families, businesses, schools, and communities — both rural and urban.

Connected Nation was among 38 Kentucky companies in the small-sized employer category (15-149 U.S. employees) to receive this year’s honor. The official winner rankings within each category will be announced Thursday, April 23, during the annual Best Places to Work in Kentucky awards banquet held at Heritage Hall in the Lexington Convention Center.
