This workshop is for those who have some experience setting up personal accounts online and are interested in video conferencing. It will support attendees to create an account on a popular video conferencing platform (Zoom) and build confidence when using features of the platform in an online meeting.
This workshop is for those who are interested in safety online and want to protect themselves from fraudsters and scams. It will build participants’ confidence when they are visiting websites, creating passwords, and responding to email.

This workshop is for those who are new to using email or want to build more confidence using email. The email training will be using Gmail, one of the most common email platforms. Learners will create a Gmail account. They will also learn how to perform basic email functions, such as sending, receiving, and replying to email. Also, they will learn to recognize and deal with spam, organize, and delete emails, and search for messages.
This workshop is for those who have a new Android mobile device, or are considering getting one, and want to learn more about the basic functions. It will help learners get connected, identify common apps, and build confidence in using their device safely.
(60 – 90 min) Should only be conducted in-person
This workshop is for those who are new to using a PC or want to build more confidence using the Windows 10 operating system. Learners will learn how to navigate the Windows 10 operating system, manage applications using the task manager, find and manage files and folders, save, and delete files, and more.
This workshop is for those who are new to the internet or want to build more confidence finding information online and navigating websites. Attendees will learn about web browsers and search engines, build skills to navigate the internet, and discover tips and tricks for basic and advanced searching online.
Projects may consist of a team of two or more high school students. Projects must be student-led. Projects are to be designed and created by students. Some adult guidance is allowed, but it must be clear that all work was done by the students. However, all student work must be under the supervision of an adult mentor assigned by the organization. That mentor will act as the liaison for all communications with CN. Adult mentors must sign an agreement before participating.
Adult mentors are responsible for acquiring and maintaining any necessary release for students to participate in the program. Students MUST document any work they did not create. In many cases, they will also need to receive permission and show documentation. Participating organizations may be subject to follow-up reporting and communications outreach. Participants must follow local guidelines for COVID safety.
