Using Broadband to Work from Home Can Mean Big Savings as Gas Nears $4

Washington, D.C.: Broadband (high-speed Internet) can alleviate the pain of high gas prices as the national average approaches $4. By eliminating the daily roundtrip commute, Americans could save nearly an hour (52 minutes) and 30 miles of driving each day . This equates to some big gas savings. The average American commuter driving a sedan at 22 miles per gallon would use 1.36 gallons per day, 6.8 gallons per week. At $4.00 per gallon, Americans would see a savings of more than $110 a month on average.
